Using as an App on iPad
OnAirTools is a Progressive Web App (PWA). This means you can add the website to the home screen of an Apple iPad (or iPhone) and use it as a full-screen app — without the Safari address bar or navigation bar at the top.
This is ideal if you use OnAirTools on a tablet next to your simulator screen during flights.
Benefits of the app version
- Full screen — no address bar or Safari navigation, more space for the tool itself.
- Faster access — open OnAirTools directly via the icon on your home screen.
- Optimised layout — the interface adapts to the available space in app mode.
- iOS safe area support — the interface accounts for the notch and home bar of your iPad.
Installing on iPad
- Open Safari on your iPad (this only works via Safari, not Chrome or another browser).
- Go to onairtools.com.
- Tap the Share icon (the box with an arrow pointing up) — found at the top or bottom of the page depending on your iPad model.
- Scroll down in the share menu and tap "Add to Home Screen".
- Optionally give the app a name and tap Add.
OnAirTools will now appear as an app icon on your home screen. When you open the app via that icon, it runs in full screen.
On Apple devices, adding to the home screen only works via the Safari browser. If you use OnAirTools via Chrome or another browser, the "Add to Home Screen" option is not available.
First launch after installation
The first time you open the app after installation, your previously entered API credentials will be automatically recognised — these are stored in the browser and remain available. You do not need to re-enter anything.
If you install OnAirTools on a new device and want to transfer your credentials from another device, use the QR code pairing in Settings.
